Jens-Erik Lund Snee

Jens grew up in Colorado but spent his childhood summers living in trailers in remote parts of Idaho and Nevada during his parents’ scientific field seasons. As a Coloradan, Jens especially enjoys mountain pursuits, including Alpine skiing, backcountry ski trips, and hiking. Jens is currently beginning a PhD in Geophysics at Stanford University, focusing on stress and geomechanics, whose principles are essential to hydrothermal energy production and hydrocarbon extraction, including hydraulic fracturing. Previously, Jens worked for Statoil as an oil explorationist in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. His earlier education includes a Masters in Geology at Stanford, where he studied the controversial geologic history of northeast Nevada; a Fulbright Fellowship to New Zealand, where he studied a fault associated with the Alpine Fault plate boundary; and a double major in Politics and Geology at Whitman College.
